Role of a birth Doula
The role of a doula can vary and I like to tailor my services bespoke to your wishes to ensure you maintain control throughout your pregnancy and birth experience. Some of the support services I can offer include:

Emotional support: Helping with various emotions that may arise during the birth process, including a continuous calming and reassuring presence throughout
-
Physical support: Comfort measures including massage, breathing techniques and position suggestions to help with comfort levels
-
Information support: Discuss & understand medical procedures, interventions and options. Discussing possible outcomes, enabling informed decision making, comfort and empowerment
-
Advocacy work alongside midwives and other health professionals to ensure your wishes and birth plans are met
-
Continuous presence throughout labour
-
Postpartum support: Making sure you and your baby are settled and adjusted
Role of a prenatal Doula
During the prenatal period, my purpose is to empower and install confidence in you during the weeks and months leading up to welcoming your baby. Together we will openly discuss your unique goals, expectations and desires concerning pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. This includes actively assisting you in planning and preparing for every step of the journey and equipping you with any necessary evidence based knowledge and resources. My aim is to increase the likelihood of achieving the birth experience that align with your wishes and needs.
-
Understand and review your current pregnancy
-
Understand and explore plans, wishes and feelings
-
Create a birth and backup birth plan
-
Provide research based information, tools and resources

Role of a postnatal Doula
I am here to support you and help you adjust to your new role, navigating the lifestyle change. The weeks after birth can be an emotional rollercoaster, going from feeling huge surges of love to feeling lonely, overwhelmed and exhausted.
This can leave you with a lack of confidence, whilst forgetting your innate ability.
My job is to be a calming cheerleader and support you so that you can flourish during this precious period. I will be there to hold time and space in whatever way that may look like and benefit you the most.
-
